He did what we could not, and became what he was not, so that we could become what we are not.

If you spend time on this site, you will read a lot about Jesus. You may find yourself asking why, so I wanted to answer the question. Why Jesus? Why is he so important?

Jesus changed my life

My life has been changed by Jesus. Without a doubt, the decision to follow Jesus was the most important one I have ever made. He has given me hope when I was without, he has changed my dreams and desires, and I have been given a purpose that is beyond myself.

I grew up going to church, but it was at a summer conference in Ohio that he altered the course of my life. He changed my life then, he continues to change it now and he will for all eternity.

He is Savior

Jesus lived an earthly life without sin, because we couldn't. Jesus was fully human and experienced every part of what it means to be human, tempation and all. He suffered an innocent death on the cross, in order to atone for the sins of humanity. Jesus took our sin upon himself and returned to us his righteousness (2 Corinthians 5:21). His offer of salvation to us is free and unconditional, which means we can do nothing to merit or deserve it (Ephesians 2:8-9). He is our Savior, and he brings us life and fellowship with him.

He is the Risen Lord

Jesus did not just die on the cross. He rose again and lives eternally. After he had risen, Jesus spent some time on earth with his disciples, and then he went to heaven where he waits until he will come again. Jesus is not just our savior or our friend, he is our Lord and we worship him as such. Jesus deserves our full devotion, and when we follow him, that is what he calls us to.

He is our friend

Jesus desires an intimate and close relationship with us. He does not stand far off, but wants to draw us near. He has promised to be with us, to never leave us or forsake us. As our friend, he weeps with us, he rejoices with us and he transforms our life. He is the best friend you will ever find.

He is God

Jesus has always been and will always be God. He is fully divine in all ways. When Jesus died on the cross, it was not just another human dying, it was the very God who created the world. In order to truly and fully save us from our sins, God took the burden upon himself. God understands our trials and our tribulations, because he experienced them in the person of Jesus.
